Chiswick and Barnes, on either side of the Thames, offer a real taste of village London with atmospheric riverside pubs, cafes, fringe theatres and walks. Barnes village has stunning river views, and some wonderful shops and fine houses close to its famous pond, while Chiswick is noted for its elegant Bedford Park, designed circa 1880 as a garden conservation estate. Both are situated between Central London and Heathrow. Stay in unspoiled Chiswick, which has retained a charming village atmosphere. Peter’s home, in Bedford Park, London’s first garden estate, was built in the 1880s. Turnham Green Terrace and the Chiswick High Road nearby, abound with boutiques, craft shops and cafes. There are three guest rooms: a double and a twin which share a guest bathroom, plus a double with queen-size bed with a private bathroom. The breakfast room, overlooking the garden, doubles as a TV sitting room for guests.
